The simulation illustrates the interdependence of free soot (attributed to engine wear and emission compliance) and bound soot. Shown is how an additive package can delay the build up of free soot until later in the wear cycle. A floating trip point identifies the optimum oil change interval for each. A floating bar correlates the trip point with free soot.
